Experience the Ayurveda way of life

About the centre

The Sacred Lotus is an Ayurveda wellness retreat in the heart of Fort Kochi, Kerala's historic coastal town, set in two Portuguese-and-Dutch heritage bungalows among rain trees and gardens. Opened in 2024 as a venture of RAVE Hospitality and Aarshaveda Wellness, it carries a deep Ayurvedic lineage — the family of Dr K. G. K. Panicker, founder of Kerala Ayurveda Pharmacy — and pairs classical, doctor-led Panchakarma with yoga, meditation and sattvic cuisine. AYUSH-registered, it makes its own oils and medicines to the classical texts. Cochin International Airport is about 45 km away.

The setting

Set in two Portuguese-and-Dutch heritage bungalows in Fort Kochi — cobbled streets, sea breeze and centuries of trade history on the doorstep — The Sacred Lotus carries a living Ayurvedic legacy that runs back over a century. Through the Venkatesh family it traces to Dr K. G. K. Panicker, founder of Kerala Ayurveda Pharmacy and a force behind the Kerala Ayurveda Mandalam. Oils are still made in-house in traditional urulis; medicines follow the classical texts. Here healing is treated less as a service than as a relationship.

The Sacred Lotus Ayurveda Retreat

Why we curated this centre

Our honest read.

The Sacred Lotus is a new property carrying an unusually deep Ayurvedic bloodline. It opened in 2024 in two Portuguese-and-Dutch heritage bungalows in Fort Kochi, but the practice runs back generations — a venture of Aarshaveda, whose founder's grandfather Dr K. G. K. Panicker founded Kerala Ayurveda Pharmacy and helped form the Kerala Ayurveda Mandalam in the early 1900s; its clinical lead, Dr Manmohan, spent fifteen years heading Ayurvedagram in Bangalore. The tells are classical: oils made in-house in traditional urulis, medicines prepared to the classical texts, doctor-led Panchakarma. It leans intimate and relational over clinical-institutional — they treat guests as family, not patients — in a heritage-home setting in a walkable historic town rather than a secluded campus. Best for a 7–21 night rejuvenation, detox, stress, fertility or weight programme for someone who wants authentic, personally-attentive Ayurveda with Fort Kochi's culture on the doorstep.
